How to Download Instagram Photos

Instagram does not always provide a one-tap way to save a photo, especially from a browser. If you need a copy of a public photo you are allowed to keep, the photo downloader gives you the original image in a couple of steps.

Copy the photo link

Open the photo you want to save. Tap the share icon and choose Copy Link, or copy the URL from your browser's address bar. The link ends with a short code that identifies the post.

Download the photo

Go to the Instagram Photo Downloader page, paste the link, and run the downloader. You will see a preview of the image. Press Download and the photo is saved to your device at the resolution the provider retrieves.

Single photos versus carousels

An Instagram photo post is sometimes part of a carousel, which is a multi-image post shown as a swipeable set. When you paste the link to a carousel, the downloader detects it and returns each item separately so you can choose which ones to save. If the post is a single photo, you get that one image directly.

A note on image ownership

Being able to download a photo does not make it free to use. Photographers and artists retain rights to their work. If you plan to use an image beyond personal keeping, ask the creator for permission.

Troubleshooting

• The account must be public — filtered or private posts cannot be downloaded.
• If you see a carousel where you expected one photo, the post contains multiple images.
• Copy the full link; a truncated URL will not resolve correctly.
