How to Download Instagram Videos

A regular Instagram video post is a video shared on the feed, distinct from a Reel. The process for saving one is nearly identical to a Reel, but there are a few details worth knowing about how feed videos behave.

Understand the difference between feed videos and Reels

Reels are short, looping vertical videos. Feed video posts can be any length or aspect ratio and appear in the main grid. Both are saved the same way — with the post's link — so you only need to copy the link to the video you want.

Copy the video link

Open the video post in the Instagram app. Tap the share icon in the post and choose Copy Link. The link will contain a shortcode that identifies the post. On desktop, you can copy the URL from the address bar while the video is open.

Save the video with the downloader

Open the Instagram Video Downloader page, paste the link, and run it. You will get a preview of the video first. Confirm it is the clip you expected, then press Download. The file is delivered through a temporary, signed link, so use it soon after it is generated.

Quality and format expectations

The quality you receive depends on what Instagram makes available for that specific video. Resolution can vary by post and by the moment the video was captured. If only a lower-resolution version is retrievable, the downloader returns that version instead of a misleading higher-quality label.

Legal and responsible use

Save videos you have permission to keep. Downloading content for personal reference is different from redistributing it. Respect the creator's copyright and terms, and only use saved clips in ways the creator and the platform allow.
