What is the Live Replays downloader?
After a broadcast ends, Instagram often keeps a recording of the stream and publishes it as a replay on the creator's profile. This tool is for those finished replays. It retrieves the replay when it is publicly accessible and Instagram is still serving the recording at the moment you try.
An active live stream is a different thing entirely, and it is not something this tool can download. Live downloading is disabled, so if a broadcast is still on air the interface tells you plainly that live downloads are unavailable rather than offering a download button that could not work.
Because availability depends on Instagram still holding the recording, this page is worth using soon after a broadcast rather than months later. There is a narrow window in which a replay is reliably there, and no tool can recover it once it is gone.

What is not supported
- Active live streams. Downloading a broadcast while it is still on air is not supported, and we never show a download button that cannot work.
- Broadcasts that ended without Instagram keeping a replay. Not every live leaves a recording behind.
- Replays from private accounts, or broadcasts you have to log in to watch.
- Subscribers-only, paid or otherwise restricted live rooms.
- Replays a creator has deleted after the broadcast.
- Profile pictures, avatars, or a profile page in general. A Live link is required, not a profile URL.
- Stories and Highlights. They are separate content types and have their own downloaders.
What you can download
- Finished Live replays that Instagram still keeps publicly available.
- Live links, which contain /live/ in the address.
- Replays from public accounts that you can open in a browser without signing in.
- Replays of broadcasts that ended and were recorded, as long as the recording is still served.
- Links copied from a public Live replay page in the browser.
What you get after downloading
- A replay comes back as a single video file, in whatever quality Instagram currently serves for that recording.
- Resolution, duration and file size follow the original broadcast. A two-hour stream is a long file; a short broadcast is a small one.
- We do not re-encode, trim or split a recording. You get the replay as the source provides it.
- File extension and filename follow the format the source uses for that particular replay.
- If Instagram only keeps part of a long broadcast, that is what is available. The replay can legitimately be shorter than the original stream.
Why a download can fail
- The broadcast is still live
- Live downloads are not available. Try again once the stream has ended and Instagram has published the replay.
- There is no replay for that broadcast
- Not every live ends with a recording Instagram keeps. If nothing is available, there is no file for us to retrieve.
- The replay was deleted
- A creator can remove a replay after it airs. Once it is deleted it cannot be downloaded by anyone, including you.
- The account is private, or the broadcast needs a login
- Private accounts and login-walled broadcasts are never accessed, and no credentials are ever requested.
- Instagram is limiting requests right now
- Wait about a minute and try the same link again.
- The download service was temporarily unavailable
- Wait a moment and retry. Transient failures almost always succeed on a second attempt.
- Instagram took too long to respond
- Try again. Long streams sometimes need a second attempt before the recording is prepared for delivery.
Troubleshooting
- Confirm the broadcast has actually ended. A stream that is still on air is never downloadable here, no matter how long the page waits.
- Check that a replay exists at all by opening the Live page in a signed-out window. If no replay appears there, there is nothing to fetch.
- Allow long replays a moment to start. Very long streams sometimes need a second attempt before the recording becomes available.
- If several attempts fail back to back, wait a minute, because these limits apply per minute.
- Make sure you are using the Live replay tool. Stories and Highlights look similar in the app but have their own downloaders.
- Use the browser's Copy link on the Live page instead of typing the address, since a mistyped Live link fails to resolve.

Can I download an Instagram Live replay?
Yes, once the broadcast has finished and while Instagram is still serving the recording. Paste the Live link and the replay is retrieved if it is publicly accessible and still available.
Can I download an active Instagram Live?
No. Downloading a stream while it is still on air is not supported. Live downloading stays disabled until the broadcast ends and becomes a replay, and the page says so instead of offering a button that cannot work.
Why isn't a Live replay available?
The most common reasons are that the broadcast is still running, no replay was kept, the creator deleted the recording, the account is private, or Instagram is temporarily limiting how often content can be retrieved. Each case produces a clear message.
How soon after a live ends can I download the replay?
As soon as Instagram publishes the recording. It is usually available shortly after the broadcast finishes, and it is most reliable in the hours and days that follow rather than much later.
Can I download a live replay from a private account?

Do I need an Instagram password?
No. SaveThisIG never asks for, stores, or uses Instagram credentials. Only publicly accessible content is processed.
Can I use this tool for Stories or Highlights?
No. Live replays, Stories and Highlights are separate content types with separate tools. A Live link that does not work here is probably a Story or Highlight link, or a stream that has not ended yet.
Why does it say live downloads are not available yet?
That message means the stream is still active. Active live downloading is not supported, so the honest answer is that there is nothing to save until the broadcast has finished.
